Chris Fitzgerald

Chris joined Octopus Energy in January 2025 in the newly created role of Director of International Affairs, leading the company’s global strategy, partnerships, and international growth.
He was previously Deputy Private Secretary to His Majesty King Charles, leading the King’s diplomatic, defence, and Commonwealth engagement, and advancing His Majesty’s sustainability agenda at COP26, COP28, and major global summits including the G7 and G20.
Before working for the Palace, Chris was a diplomat with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), serving in senior roles in London and overseas, including postings in New Delhi, Kabul, and Brussels. His work focused on the Middle East, counter-terrorism, and national security, and he advised the UK’s National Security Adviser on crises and strategy across defence and foreign policy.
Chris is a Trustee of the Refugee Employment Network and sits on the Steering Committee of the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme.
