Huang Shan
Director & Senior Fellow, Caixin Insight
Mr. Shan Huang is now based in London, and is director and senior fellow of Caixin Insight, the intelligence unit of Caixin Media. Before that, Mr. Huang served as Deputy Managing Editor and Editorial Board Member of Caixin Media, the Chinese equivalent of the Economist. He was in charge of Caixin’s foreign desk, with 18 years of experience in reporting on Chinese domestic economic & political situations, its external relations with focus on Chinese economic diplomacy.
Mr. Huang was a visiting fellow with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford in the trinity term of 2018. He served as a senior research associate with the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame for the period of August 2018 through May 2019.
Mr. Huang holds an M.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame (UND) in the U.S. in 2004. He was recipient of Presidential Fellowship of UND, the highest honor granted by UND. He served on the UND Greater China Scholarship Selection Committee in both 2011 and 2012 and served as President of UND Beijing Alumni Club. Mr. Huang is the initiator of China-Japan Young Leaders Program, an annual gathering of around 35 young leaders from both China and Japan. Mr. Huang graduated from Peking University in 2001 majoring in International Politics and received his B.A.
