Martin Wolf is the chief economics commentator at the Financial Times and one of the world’s most influential voices on global economic policy. He worked at the World Bank in the 1970s, where he specialised in trade and development, and subsequently joined the Financial Times in 1987. Widely respected for his analysis of international finance, macroeconomics, and globalisation, he has played a prominent role in debates on financial crises, inequality, and the future of capitalism. Mr Wolf is also the author of several acclaimed books, including The Shifts and the Shocks (2014) and The Crisis of Democratic Capitalism, (2023) and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2000 for services to financial journalism.
