Mr Yang Xiaoguang was appointed as the Minister and First Staff Member, Embassy of China in the UK in 2021. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the People’s Republic of China in 1997. From 2000 to 2004, he served at the Chinese Embassy in Australia.

He was posted as Counsellor and Minister Counsellor to the Mission of China to the European Union from 2015 to 2019, after his previous diplomatic career in European Union from 2009 to 2011.

He worked in the Department of Personnel and Department of European Affairs, MFA, from 2004 to 2009. Before he served in the UK, he was the Counsellor/Deputy Director General, Department of European Affairs, MFA, from 2019 to 2021.
